What makes a hero? Are heroes only those who have achieved what they want to achieve or did they arise from some 'special circumstances' ?
A hero is an ideal or model who is admired for certain outstanding qualities and achievements noted in a particular field.
We feel that heroes, are those who have achieved what they want to achieve in life.
Take S.Rajaratnam for example, he was an avid reader from young, and was extremely engaged in politics. Thus, he began writing articles about political issues in Singapore and Malaya and soon, got involved in a political career himself. From then on, he was given the opportunity to hold several offices. Through which, he has made many significant contributions to Singapore, especially development-wise. Hence, he is a true hero.
What challenges does a hero face and how does his/her qualities enable him/her to overcome challenges? Describe at least ONE challenge and how the hero overcomes the challenge.
A hero faces many challenges from all different aspects of life. Some of the challenges may include rejection from the fellow citizens, etc. However, a hero, as mentioned, has certain qualities in life that deem him/her so. These qualities help him/her to overcome such challenges.
As a result of being overly-involved in politics as a member of the Marxist Left Book Club, S.Rajaratnam failed to complete his studies. His financial aid from his father was also terminated during the war. Although he faced these challenges in his life, he had the determination and perseverance to continue with his passion for politics. He worked as a journalist to support himself, and through which, could also contribute articles on political issues in Singapore and Malaya.

ReplyDeleteIn my opinion they defined the word hero clearly and conveyed their opinions and thoughts successfully. They put in a lot of effort to do a thorough background research on S.Rajaratnam therefore they will able to explain in detail on his achievements and how he managed to persevere and overcome obstacles in the hardest times of his life. It is evident that they understood the requirements of this blog post and answered the quetions well. However, we could not view their videos as it was not posted up properly, they should take notice of that as the video might be important to this blog post and contain a lot of essential information that will aid us in understanding this topic. They are able to define the terms clearly and link it to the issue or the topic, this shows that they have a great depth of understanding towards the topic. They were able to highlight important issues with regards to S.Rajaratnam and therefore making a good conclusion.
